World Eaters

Demon Prince Is The Cool

There is a tournament and the game store at the end of the month, so I am going to try and get my World Eaters army finished for it. It is mostly painted over the years, but I still need to do the vehicles.

We will see.

Yasuki Naotaka, A History

Yasuki Naotaka perhaps would have been the greatest hero of his generation, if only he had been a little more lucky. Born the second son of a high ranking Yasuki bushi, he hails from a long line of notable bodyguards and advisers to the Yasuki Clan daimyo. Members of his family were almost always members of the Yasuki house guard, unless they were themselves powerful and clever courtiers. His father Yasuki Ujiharu is the current captain of the Yasuki Family Guard. He has two younger sisters, and an older brother who is the greatest warrior that the family has ever produced.

Naotaka and his older brother Otomoro both attended the Hida Bushi School. Two years older, Otomoro was always at the top of his class in everything. Naotaka always did well at everything, but there always seemed to be a student who was just a little bit better. The only lesson that Naotaka really easily outperformed his classmates in was Kenjutsu. While a very well respected art, even in the Crab lands, the other subjects that would be much more useful on the Wall was what the instructors were really looking for.

Naotaka spent the next few years after graduating serving on the Wall. His record on the wall followed much in the same way that his schooling had. He was always well regarded by everyone, and always was considered a solid warrior, but he never gained a reputation as an exceptional. Almost every time he preformed deeds that would have really made him seem like a great up and coming Crab warrior, someone else at the same battle always managed to top him. Meanwhile his brother was rapidly rising in rank and popularity. Otomoro caught the attention of on of the Crabs top generals, and is now being groomed to become a major leader among the Crab armies.

After a few years on the Wall, Naotaka was transferred back to the Yasuki lands. Assigned as a yojimbo to several courtiers of minor rank and influence, he usually spent more time in gambling dens and brothels with his charges than in the courts. Naotaka enjoyed the time he spent at court, and quickly took to learning courtly ways. His reputation for dependable service now often sees him traveling around the empire with Yasuki merchants. Naotaka has started to develop quite a positive reputation with the courtiers of other clans, who find him a refreshing change from the usual brutish thugs that accompany the Crab diplomats. More than a few situations where a business deal has gone poorly has ended on the edge of Naotaka’s katana, as Crab dueling ability is traditionally considered weak. Naotaka enjoys these trips abroad, where he can finally escape his brothers shadow.

Naotaka is a very average looking samurai with a very polite demeanor, which often causes him and the danger he actually represents to be overlooked or underestimated. He dresses in simple, fine clothing that is not as flashy or extravagant as the average Yasuki. Now that he spends more time in court, he is seriously focusing on his Iaijutsu training.

Malifun Part One

I have been working on some stuff for the miniatures game Malifaux lately. Not been able to really play much in the way of games, but hopefully that will change.

The king of Cool

Me and the guys have started a Blood Bowl league as well, but there have been some issues with playing for some people. Hopefully once things get back on track I will have more information here.

Birth of the Paint Wizard

Now that I have returned from my tournament in Raleigh at the beginning of April, I find that I am no longer forced to work towards a painting goal.  About half of the Dwarf army I played was painted in the week proceeding the tournament, and the night before we left Zac and I were up till about 4 in the morning putting the finishing touches on the little bits that we had not completed.  The Dwarfs I finished were not the best in the world, but I was quite pleased at how they turned out.

Old dudes gettin' busy

Right now I am working on a little bit of stuff for a game called Malifaux, as well as stuff for Hordes and Uncharted Seas.  I hope to have some of my Shroud Mage ships finished later tonight.  I am sure I will be updating with my progress on my various projects as well as other hobby related stuff.
